The last store to occupy this space was AAA Estate Sales, roughly from 2000 until the mall closed. In the late 1980s this space became Payless Shoe Source (the payless signage is still visible, as seen in the second photo). According to a 1977 map of the mall, this Payless space was once the old Mad Hatter Cafeteria. My brother and I *loved* the Mad Hatter when we were kids. In the 60's this space was the swank Captain's Cove Cafeteria. If anyone has pictures, please let me know!
